On Friday, 3rd June, at Coffee Inn situated in the heart of Vilnius’ old town SIH organised a meeting with a famous contemporary poet Rimvydas Stankevičius – ePublisher poet of the month of April.
During the event, all readers and poetry lovers had a great opportunity not only to meet with the poet, but also to enjoy his amazing poetry featured by young actors Gabrielė Malinauskaitė, Dovydas Laukys and Asta Stankūnaitė.
The actors perfomed an impressive programme consisting of selected poems, writings and songs of R.Stankevičius. The performance revealed the power of poetry, the ability it has to strike a chord – the audience could experience how just a few beautifully composed lines can have much more power and pull than whole reams of a plain text. As R.Stankevičius later said during the discussion, a poem can even be a prayer, such a powerful it is!
At the end of the event the participants enjoyed the opportunity to chat with the poet, ask him questions, listen to his insights.
“Piçarra em Pessoa” is a very interesting poetry show based on a poetry book, wirtten by Diogo Piçarra, which evoques on of the most famous Portuguese poets of all times, Fernando Pessoa.
On May 14th it was the turn of a local poet Fernando Paralta choosen by the Lousada Municipal Public Library to launch his poetry book.
The International House World Organisation (IHWO) Directors’ Conference took place in Oxford on 7th – 10th May, 2016. This years’ conference took place at the picturesque Hawkwell House in Iffley village and brought together IH school owners and directors from across the 160 schools in IH network.
The second week of May, prior an international poetry festival and the most outstanding yearly literature event POETRY SPRING is being held all over Lithuania, SIH organised poetry readings with our teachers and students.
