Tugs toe a crippled boat from the quay
Only just it turns
            tilted she moves ahead
                        spreading smoke
the left rail brushes foamy wave crests
 
The boat scuffs towards the open sea
cargo hold empty, the captain
hopes that the weather forecast
            doesn’t fail, the repairs
are in the offing, the budget
            not, and it is no accident that
the shipbuilder is on the other side
of the ocean

Hinaajat auttavat ramman laivan laiturista
Vaivoin se kääntyy
            vinossa kulkee
                        savuttaa
vasen parras viippaa vaahtopäitä
 
Laiva laahustaa kohti avomerta
ruuma tyhjänä, kapteeni
toivoo, ettei sääennuste
            petä, remontti
on tiedossa, budjetti
            ei, eikä se ole mikään vahinko, että
korjaustelakka on
toisella mantereella
